Solar Power: Efficient and Affordable
In the past, residential solar power was reserved for homes that were far off the beaten track. These were often ranch homes in the American Southwest where sunlight is plentiful and civilization relatively scarce. When you’re miles from the nearest access to the power grid, it just makes sense to become self-reliant. More recently, everyday Americans in cities, towns and rural settings are exploring the potential of photovoltaic cells.
Technology has improved over the last few years, and just as computers drop in price once they’ve been around a while, solar power systems are becoming less expensive and more tantalizing to the average homeowner. Once solar panels are set up and fully operational, they can reduce energy bills and provide real peace of mind. It’s nice to know that in providing energy for your home you’re not also leaving a carbon footprint.
Solar Power TO GO!
My son Trevor and I decided to go hiking, And we needed to put together a check lists of items we should take with us on our trip.
The list started something like this:
* Clothing items—
* Hiking Boots
* Wool Socks
* Long Underwear
* Brier tough trouser
*Equipment—
* 2 favorite hiking staffs
* 2 Backpacks
* 4 flashlights, extra batteries
* 4 MRE’s meals, trail mix
* small first aid kit
* Compass
* waterproof matches
* pocket saw, hatchet
That’s a good start, Trevor and I were going over the list of items, We were siting in the garage thinking about what other items we needed or something else we should take, after a few minutes Trevor say’s, Dad we have to take our cell phones in case we have any trouble on the trail. Yes I replied, we sure do. And Dad, I hope you don’t mind if I bring my ipod to just to use if I get bored. I said that was OK, Because I knew he didn’t want to hear me talking all the time as we walked. I knew we would be gone for about 3 days for a good hike, I thought about that for a minute and said,
“What are we going to do if our cell phone batteries go dead on us, or your ipod battery, that could be trouble couldn’t it”
Next Trevor said, Dad, just the other day I was on the internet looking at hiking supplies and I just happen to come across a Solar Power
Back Pack that charges hand held electronics,
“Really” I said “Yeah” Trevor said, and it wasn’t that expensive either. I looked at Trevor and said, let’s go get online a find us one of those back packs, Trevor said that sounds like a good ideal, LET’S GO
The Versatility of Solar Panels
A lot of people are looking for new ways to produce energy. Solar energy is one of the energy sources that are free, clean and renewable. Solar panels are used to harness the energy from the sun. The solar panels are arrays of photovoltaic cells that collect the sun’s energy.
Much research is still being done on building more efficient and cost effective solar panels for domestic and industrial use. You can save so much on your electricity bill when you can rely on the sun for heating your home. But you can see smaller applications that can be used in campsites. Since there is no access to electrical outputs in the outdoors, solar panels are used to supply some electricity in the site.
Solar Powered Attic Fans
Have you ever had to go up into the attic on a Hot summer day and the temperature is around 90 to 95 degrees outside that day. Well I have had to, I had to go up into the attic on a Hot summer day to get something out of a box I had stored up there or I have had to go up there and place more boxes of stuff we had to store, you know try to stay organized.
Well let me tell you, when you have to go up in the attic on a day like that, I think you will agree with me it’s so Hot up here it will take your breath away. If you was to place a thermometer in the attic to read the temperature it would read between 120 to 140 degrees, that temperature is unbearable for any amount of time, you can’t stand it for very long.
Don’t you think there’s got to be a way to remove this heat in the attic, and to think how this kind of heat is pressing down on your living space inside of the house. Now wonder why your air conditioning unit is running all the time fighting against the temperature outside, let alone the temperature in the attic.
There is a solution:
You could install or have installed Solar Powered Attic Fans to pull the Hot temperature out of the attic. It works like an exhaust fan, and runs by a Solar Cell to power the motor for the fan that pulls the heat out of the attic, and has a temperature switch that turns the fan on & off, and you don’t have to hook the unit up to a electrical outlet ether. Your one time price could just possible save you quiet a bit of money from your electric bill.
Now that makes sense to me, How about you!
Solar Power to go!
“Gadgets” Don’t we just love them.
Many people these days have a lot of gadgets, we have cellphones, i pods, pda’s, laptops, and what do they all have in common: weak or dead batteries. The batteries have to start to die out when we are in the middle of a project or in the middle of a call or waiting for our favorite songs to come up in the play lists our battery starts to die.
You know what a problem it is carrying your charger with you and running around trying to find an outlet somewhere to charge them back up.
Their is a solution, a new gadget, and it’s called a Solar Power Pack it is the latest new gadget people on the move need to have with them to keep your gadgets operable. In no time you have powered up and your back on track and ready to go.
Finally we have portable Solar Power on the go, when we need it, and sooner or later your going to need it. Power up!
Teaching Kids about Energy Savings

While it’s not reasonable to expect that children understand every aspect of household finance, it doesn’t hurt to give them a head start. By teaching your kids to live within their means, you greatly improve their chances of avoiding a pit of debt later in life. I began the process by explaining the details of the heating and electric bills to my kids. Then we sat down and came up with strategies for reducing the monthly costs.
My son struck upon a novel idea that never would have occurred to me: we could pursue solar energy to supplement our household heating and electrical. I found a book online explaining how to build DIY solar panels in great detail. It turns out that most of the materials necessary for the task are widely available and inexpensive to boot. Somehow my attempt to teach the kids about budgeting transformed into a bonding experience.
